Re-remember. I’m not even sure if that’s proper grammatically, but the Urban Dictionary says it means, “When you remember something, then forget, and remember it again later.” Exactly!

This summer I was able to sneak away for four days with a dear friend. We went to northern Michigan for quiet, rest, and fun physical activity. And, in the process, I re-remembered a few things–things I already knew and have remembered before but needed to be reminded of yet again.
- It is important for me to get outside regularly. It is life-giving for my soul and mind to breathe deeply of fresh air and to sit quietly in nature.
- I can be athletic and strong, and I can try new things. Sometimes you just forget when you’re a busy mama and homemaker that your body is capable and strong.
- Different does not equal wrong. Just because the last year or two has looked very different for my time with Jesus, doesn’t mean it has necessarily been BAD or LACKING.
- God has not left me alone. I am not abandoned. Difficulty and struggle do not equal bad or that I misheard Jesus or that He misled.
Sometimes we need to step away from our usual view to new scenery in order to remember what we already know.
Resist the urge to scold yourself for being scattered. Remember that no one has ever been shamed into freedom. Let be what is in the presence of God. Acknowledge what is true. Say the day in your mind–the date, the month, the year. This is where you are; this moment is what you have. You can only be in one place at a time. Stay in today.
Emily P. Freeman, The Next Right Thing

May you be present in Today. May you take time to be quiet for a moment. What is God nudging you to re-remember . . . about you? About Him? About your place in this world? Name it and write it down. You just might find the courage and hope your soul has been craving in order to move forward into tomorrow.
