The motivation behind it all
(for the days when we just need a little reminder).
The gospel is all about adoption: God adopted us as His sons and daughters. Therefore, we go and do likewise.
But when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons [the adoption as sons (NKJV)]. (Galatians 4:4-6)
We are compelled by Jesus’ love to selfless action.
God sets the lonely in families (Psalm 68:6)
Let’s not mince words, shall we? This brings it down to the basics of acceptable religion from God’s perspective.
Who knows but that we might be put in a child’s life:
For such a time as this (Esther 4:14)
For the days when it feels like it’s all just too much–remember that Jesus is enough.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” . . . For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:9, 10)
Jesus does not leave us–and we will not leave the children, we will come to them. And then cling to the promise that as we obey, we will see Jesus.
“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. . . . Whoever has My commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves Me. He who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I too will love him and show Myself to him.” (John 14:18, 21)
