Our foster care why? The gospel. Our foster care foundation? Love. This passage has been a bedrock for my husband and I during the past eleven years of fostering.
If we are “out of our mind,” as some say, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. For Christ’s *love* compels us, because we are convinced that One died for all, and therefore all died. And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again.
2 Corinthians 5:13-15
Gospel: for God so loved us that Jesus died and rose again to rescue us from sin and bring us to life.

The good news of the gospel CHANGES LIVES and this small changed life stepped into foster care out of obedience, compelled by LOVE. Christ’s love. My love would have run out long ago, but His love sustains. His love brings me to say “yes” yet again. His love helps me to truly see the orphan and the widow. His love causes me to forgo a life of uncomplicated and calm because no sacrifice is too big for a God who loves me like that.
Does foster care sometimes feel like we are out of our minds? Yes indeed! But we choose this daily death to self in order to live for Him. I am convinced that He is worthy.
Death for life.
Compelled by the gospel.
Intentionally “out of our minds” love.
Because of Jesus.
This is our why.
